Is Your “Go-Bag” Outdated? The 2026 Disaster Prep Checklist
Date: December 30, 2025
Category: Safety & Prep
As we close out the year and enter the peak season for winter storms, it is time to audit your emergency supplies. The “flashlight and batteries” kit of 2020 doesn’t cut it anymore. In a world where our safety depends on connectivity, power is as vital as water.
Here is the updated 2026 Blackout Protocol recommended by safety experts:
1. The Communication Hub
Your phone is your lifeline, but does your router work? A small UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) like the BLUETTI EB3A can keep your WiFi router running for 8+ hours during a blackout, allowing you to stay informed when cell towers get jammed.
2. Medical Security
For those relying on CPAP machines, the new “Silent Mode” on our AC180 models ensures you get a good night’s sleep without the hum of a generator. We recommend testing your CPAP with your power station before the storm hits to ensure you have the right DC cables.
Action Item: Check the cycle count on your current power station. If it isn’t LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate), it might have degraded while sitting in storage. Upgrade to LFP tech this January for a battery that lasts 10+ years.
